The past year will certainly be remembered as a difficult one. A number of factors impacted commodity prices. From the outbreak of war in Ukraine, to inflation, to the covid outbreak in China, to the global economic slowdown. Jointly, these factors resulted in high uncertainty that manifested itself in high price volatility.
The war in Ukraine in particular has been one of the factors that has most affected the financial prices of different industries.

METALS
The following chart shows the PricePedia financial indexes of ferrous and nonferrous metals prices, expressed in dollars. The week for nonferrous was characterized by a first part of rising prices, followed by two days of sharp declines. This dynamic characterized the price of almost all nonferrous metals. More stable, however, were the dollar prices of ferrous metals.

FERROUS METALS
The heatmap below provides an overview of ferrous metal price trends, expressed in euros. The depreciation of the euro toward the dollar over the past two weeks is reflected in an increase in prices in euros. As can be seen from the heatmap the increase is generalized to almost all products in the sector. Particularly strong is the increase in hot coil prices in the U.S. market.

NON FERROUS METALS
The heatmap below provides an overview of the price trends for nonferrous metals, expressed in euros. Even in the case of nonferrous metals, the depreciation of the euro results in a fairly generalized increase in euro prices, with the exclusion of precious metals.
